Another successful Exploring Enterprise programme is drawing to a close at CIDO. As well as working towards a qualification in ‘Understanding Business Enterprise’, our participants were able to attend an employability workshop where they were given tips on applying for jobs as well as hearing from our guest speaker Laura McNally of SRC who looked at other routes to employment and gave them information on the opportunities available to them in further education and training. We’d like to thank local business ‘The New You Plan’ for hosting a work study visit for our participants, providing an opportunity for everyone to get a behind the scenes look at how a business operates on a day to day basis. Over the course of two weeks we also welcomed guest speakers, Martin Lavery from marketing agency Purple Sheep and businesswomen Nicola Hamill from Wee Wonders to give further insights into business to our participants. Our participants were also given the opportunity to visit the Social Enterprise Hub where Derek Brown talked about the support available for starting a social enterprise. Everyone on the programme will now be able to avail of one to one mentoring support.
Kirsty Watson who delivers the programme at CIDO commented “It’s such a great programme to work on. It’s so rewarding to see our participants achieve their goals whether that’s finding employment, enrolling in further training or setting up their own business. I am delighted to be involved in helping and supporting such a great bunch of people and play a part in helping them achieve their goals.”
The next programme will run in October. If you would like more information contact Kirsty on 028 3839 6520 or email kirsty.watson@cido.co.uk. Alternatively you can find some further details here
