Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership

Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership are offering a Farm Family Option - Agricultural Business Mentoring.
Agricultural business mentoring will give you the opportunity to review your current position, address your main issues and concerns and to identify options and opportunities to make a real difference to the future quality of life for you and your family.
What is Agricultural Business Mentoring?
Agricultural Business Mentoring is an opportunity to discuss your farm business needs and circumstances openly, and in confidence, with an experienced mentor who through their skills and experience, is in a position to be of positive help to you. The mentor will be able to discuss the aspects of your farm business that are of particular concern to you, and support you in identifying options that meet the needs of the farm business and your family. Together, you can agree a plan of action to move forward.
This might include:
- Farm and off farm income
- Farm systems and practices, and related investments
- Succession/ retirement planning
- Wills & inheritance issues
- Improving skills levels
- Off-farm employment or diversification
This programme will encourage you to take a positive but realistic look at your options.
What will happen during the mentoring process?
Once your application is approved, a mentor will be assigned to you and will arrange to meet you, at a suitable time, at your farm business. To make the process a success, it is important that you spend the necessary time, (up to four sessions of two hours each), and to involve as many members of the farm family as possible in the process.
You will also be encouraged to give some thought, before and between mentoring sessions, to the main areas of concern or issues you wish to consider. Relevant worksheets and questionnaires can be provided to help your thinking. The more you put into the mentoring process the greater the benefits will be for you and your family.
