Staff of CIDO joined thousands of others and battled the weather to participate in Walk Ten. It’s a 10k (6 mile) walk around the grounds of Stormont, which consisted of 2 laps of the grounds of Stormont.
Despite the wet weather, spirits were high and there ws plenty of entertainment for all, which included music, face painters, a crooner, the Ulster Rugby cheerleaders and MC Mark Lima from Citybeat.
Participants were encouraged to bring along a picnic, enjoy the entertainment after the walk and then listen to the Marie Curie nurse tell you a little bit about what they do. At 10pm there was a fire display to mark the beginning of the Nurses nightshift just as they are knocking on people’s door throughout Northern Ireland to provide care to terminally ill people.
CIDO raised over £400, which will make a difference in helping the Marie Curie nurses provide more care for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses.
The next fundraising event will be a coffee morning to be held at CIDO on Friday 18th November.
