The event was aimed at those of us who have had to change how and when we do things in order to succeed in an increasingly difficult environment, it was a humorous look (using a fable) at what it takes to succeed in the business world today, and yet is just as applicable to employees and or our private lives if we want to be successful in relationships and or friendships.
Gerry is a serial entrepreneur and motivational guru who had no schooling or qualifications when he started in business over 30 years ago, and yet he now owns and runs several small businesses as well as advising many large organisations.
Besides the motivational speech by Gerry, CIDO also acknowledged clients who were awarded the CCEA Certificate in Business Enterprise at Level 2 or Level 3. The Certificate in Business Enterprise Programme, which is funded by the Department of Employment and Learning, with European Social Fund assistance, has been a huge success for CIDO. It aims to help those who are not yet ready to start up a business, but who wish to explore the concept of business start-up and self-employment. The Programme offers a mix of one-to-one mentoring and group training and focuses on identifying transferable skills which can be applied in business. This type of effective pre-start support encourages people who are economically inactive to start a business, may help to accelerate the start up process and make business success a more attainable goal.
The evening, which was a huge success, was attended by CIDO clients, their guests and other invited guests from the business community. Gerry Faloona, a motivational and networking guru and a serial entrepreneur, not only entertained and informed his audience, but also helped to empower them to make life changing business decisions.
